Lydian Lion Ring
24k gold plated vermeil. this ring is set with a hand engraved carnelian gem intaglio. The motif of the stone is a depiction of the Lydian Lion. Lydia was an Iron age kingdom located in what is now modern day Manisa, in Turkey. It was the first civilization in history to invent a form of currency. The coins they minted had the same lion depiction on them.
